Senior AI Engineer

£750-850 per day | Outside IR35 | 6 Months | Remote First

SR2 are supporting a growing AI consultancy that delivers secure, production-grade AI solutions into complex and highly regulated environments. They're looking for a Senior AI Engineer to take ownership of AI projects from discovery through to deployment, building intelligent systems that combine retrieval, automation and advanced reasoning to solve real-world business challenges.

What you'll be doing

• Building production AI applications and workflows
• Developing retrieval and search capabilities across complex information sources
• Creating data ingestion and document processing pipelines
• Evaluating and improving AI system performance
• Deploying solutions into customer environments
• Working closely with stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes

Experience required

• Strong Python engineering skills (FastAPI desirable)
• Commercial experience building AI or LLM-powered applications
• Experience with RAG, semantic search, retrieval systems or knowledge-driven architectures
• Document processing, information extraction or data engineering experience
• Modern cloud, containerisation and deployment experience
• Strong software engineering fundamentals

Nice to have

• Knowledge graphs or graph-based retrieval
• AI evaluation frameworks
• Experience within regulated environments
