Interaction / UX Designer
6 Month Contract £400 per day (Outside IR35) Manchester (fortnightly onsite - remote the remaining) Immediate Start

A leading product transformation consultancy is seeking an experienced Interaction / UX Designer to support a high-impact programme within a major UK public sector organisation. This role sits within a large-scale transformation initiative, likely aligned to the circular economy portfolio, focused on improving digital services and user outcomes.

The Role

You will play a key role in designing intuitive, accessible, and user-centred digital services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help shape end-to-end user journeys, ensuring services meet both user needs and government standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality interaction and UX design solutions across digital services
  • Translate user research insights into clear, effective user journeys and interaction patterns
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and design artefacts to communicate ideas and solutions
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, researchers, and stakeholders
  • Ensure designs align with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards and best practices
  • Contribute to service assessments and continuous improvement of live services
  • Support the development of scalable and reusable design patterns


Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Interaction Designer or UX Designer within digital delivery environments
  • Strong experience working to GDS standards on government or public sector projects
  • Ability to design end-to-end user journeys across complex services
  • Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong prototyping skills (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar)
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience contributing to service transformation or service redesign programmes


Contract Details

  • Day Rate: £400 per day (Outside IR35)
  • Duration: 6 months initial contract
  • Location: Manchester (onsite once every two weeks - rest remote)
  • Start Date: ASAP
