ServiceNow Engineer

Location: London - 3 days on-site
Employment Type: Contract - Initial 6 Months

Outside IR35 - Up to £800 per day

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled ServiceNow Engineer to design, develop, and support ServiceNow solutions that improve operational efficiency, governance, risk management, compliance, and security processes across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring and enhancing ServiceNow applications, with a particular focus on Integrated Risk Management (IRM), Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Vulnerability Management, and Configuration Management capabilities. The role requires close collaboration with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that align with organisational objectives and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Development

  • Design, configure, develop, and maintain ServiceNow applications, workflows, and integrations.
  • Enhance and optimise Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) capabilities to support risk assessments, policy management, compliance monitoring, and automation.
  • Develop and maintain Vulnerability Management solutions to support the identification, prioritisation, and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Configure and enhance Configuration Management capabilities to improve visibility of technology assets and service dependencies.
  • Develop custom applications, business rules, client scripts, workflows, UI policies, and integrations as required.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with platform best practices.

Platform Administration

  • Support the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Manage platform upgrades, patches, releases, and performance tuning activities.
  • Maintain platform security, data integrity, and operational stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the platform and associated integrations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with IT, security, compliance, risk, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations on ServiceNow capabilities and best practices.
  • Support user acceptance testing, training, and knowledge transfer activities where required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor platform performance and identify opportunities for optimisation and automation.
  • Stay current with ServiceNow product developments, new features, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps, enhancement initiatives, and governance activities.
  • Support the continuous improvement of operational processes and service delivery.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience developing and administering ServiceNow solutions.
  • Hands-on expertise with Integrated Risk Management (IRM), Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Vulnerability Management, and Configuration Management modules.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture, development frameworks, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide scripting, ServiceNow APIs, and platform customisation.
  • Experience developing and supporting integrations using REST, SOAP, MID Server, and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management principles.
  • Understanding of risk management frameworks, compliance requirements, and security best practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in ServiceNow development, administration, or engineering roles.
  • Experience supporting governance, risk, compliance, security, or operational technology service management processes.

Preferred

  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and/or Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).
  • Additional ServiceNow certifications in ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, Discovery, or Vulnerability Management.
  • Experience within security operations, vulnerability management, or cyber security functions.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise ServiceNow environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices.
