Rate: £600/day Outside IR35
Contract Length: 12 Months
Work Model: Hybrid, 2 days in Central London
DevOps Engineer will:
* Be part of a software development team working to improve the reliability, observability, consistency, developer experience and security posture of the Guardian's technical estate through:
* building the Guardian's next generation Developer Experience platform
* OR enabling teams to adopt modern tooling provided by the new platform
* Define and develop new infrastructure patterns using modern best practices that improve consistency between environments and simplify the process of setting up and running applications.
* Improve reliability and efficiency by reviewing existing observability features and implementing alternatives or additional improvements where necessary.
* Reduce the team's ongoing maintenance burden by adopting third-party replacements for bespoke tooling where appropriate
* Define migration strategy and work with teams to support their adoption of new tooling.
* You will be working in a multi-functional team, which is empowered to rapidly iterate and release new features.
* You won't be coding in isolation. Our culture is strongly collaborative, whether pair programming within your team or working closely with developers across other product teams.
About You
You will have experience in the DevOps, platform engineering or SRE domains, with knowledge of developing software solutions which help teams improve their applications through the adoption of tooling and best practices.
* You have experience in DevOps, platform engineering or SRE and have comprehensive experience in software development.
* You have an in-depth technical understanding of cloud-native architectures and modern DevOps tooling. Ideally, you will have experience working with and deploying containers.
* You have experience in improving the reliability, observability and/or maintainability of services through the use of tooling and modern best practices. Ideally, you will have experience implementing and/or working with distributed tracing.
* You have experience in running applications in AWS, ideally working with ECS/ALB.
* You can make assessments and reasoned recommendations regarding what technologies to use and when to use them.
* You are confident in translating product and business requirements into technical solutions.
* You have excellent communication skills.
