A fast-growing UK full-fibre broadband provider is looking for a Systems Administrator to join their fast hrowing team. You will lead a comprehensive as-is audit, gap analysis, and remediation programme across both Enterprise IT and Network Operations IT environments, ensuring systems are properly configured, documented, and aligned to best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a full as-is audit of Enterprise IT (Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Entra ID, Intune, endpoint management, SSO/MFA, security baselines) and Network Operations IT (Azure cloud infrastructure, VPN/Firewalls, DNS/DHCP, RADIUS, NTP, Altiplano, MCP)
- Produce a gap analysis identifying configuration drift, security exposures, undocumented systems, and operational risks
- Develop a RAG-based remediation plan with prioritised actions, dependencies, and timeframes
- Document all systems consistently (Visio diagrams, CMDB entries, network topology, admin guides)
- Implement agreed remediations and enforce configuration baselines (Azure policies, group policies, backups, Firewall rulesets, IAM hygiene)
- Build repeatable processes for patching, monitoring, backup, and DR, documenting RPO/RTO by system
- Provide oversight and mentoring to existing NetOps staff, embedding structure, security, and governance
- Work with Information Security and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to GDPR, Telecommunications Security Act, and ISO27001 frameworks
- Produce knowledge transfer materials and handover documentation for in-house teams at contract end
What You Will Ideally Bring:
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Endpoint Manager
- Deep hands-on experience with Azure Infrastructure (VMs, networking, policies, security groups, monitoring, cost management)
- Proven experience administering VPNs, Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar), DNS/DHCP/NTP, and RADIUS Servers
- Familiarity with network application stacks such as Altiplano, MCP, and other customer-facing service platforms
- Strong documentation skills (Visio, Draw.io, CMDBs, architecture diagrams)
- Understanding of identity and access management, SSO, MFA, and conditional access policies
- Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, or equivalent SIEM/logging tools
- Competent in Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- 5+ years in Systems Administration or Infrastructure roles, ideally within telecoms, ISP, or managed service environments
Desirable:
- ITIL v4 process experience (change, incident, problem, configuration)
- Exposure to TM Forum-aligned OSS/BSS integration environments
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, or Telecoms Security Act controls
- Networking awareness (VLANs, BGP, IP routing, Firewalls, VPN tunnels)
- Microsoft or Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-500, MS-100, or equivalent)
