Project Manager - 8 Months (2 days per week) - Remote - Outside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the planning, governance, and delivery of a Virtual Data Centre (vDC) programme. The role will work across contractors, internal project teams, infrastructure specialists, and platform stakeholders to ensure effective delivery, governance, and stakeholder alignment.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in project delivery, governance, and stakeholder management, ideally within infrastructure, cloud, and virtualised data centre environments.

Initial Engagement

An initial planning and mobilisation phase of approximately 4 days will be required to:

• Review programme objectives and scope.
• Assess current delivery status and dependencies.
• Identify key stakeholders and governance requirements.
• Establish project controls, reporting structures, and delivery milestones.
• Produce a clear roadmap for execution and ongoing oversight.

Ongoing Support

Following the initial engagement, ongoing support of 2 days per week will be required.

Responsibilities will include:

• Project and programme management.
• Governance and reporting.
• Stakeholder engagement and communication management.
• Risk, issue, assumption, and dependency management.
• Delivery planning and milestone tracking.
• Coordination across technical and business workstreams.
• Facilitation of governance forums, steering groups, and decision-making meetings.
• Escalation management and resolution of delivery blockers.

Technical Environment

The programme is focused on a Virtual Data Centre (vDC) environment and associated cloud platforms. Experience working within virtualised infrastructure environments is highly desirable, including:

• Virtual Data Centre (vDC) architecture and operations.
• VMware technologies, including vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation.
• Software-defined networking and security technologies, including NSX.
• Hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.
• Infrastructure modernisation and migration programmes.
• Platform, networking, security, and operational service delivery.

Experience working with one or more major cloud providers is advantageous:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Microsoft Azure
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Working Arrangement

• Predominantly remote.
• Attendance at virtual governance, stakeholder, and delivery meetings as required.
• Occasional onsite workshops or stakeholder sessions may be required.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven Project Management experience delivering technology and infrastructure programmes.
• Strong governance and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Experience working with contractors, technical teams, and senior business stakeholders.
• Ability to operate effectively within complex infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Strong planning, reporting, communication, and organisational skills.
• Experience supporting Virtual Data Centre (vDC), VMware, NSX, cloud, or infrastructure transformation programmes would be highly desirable.
