Job Title: Network Engineer

Day Rate: £230/day (OUTSIDE IR35)

Location: Merseyside (5 days a week on-site)

Contract Length: 3 months (extendable)

Network Engineer - Role & Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve enterprise LAN/WAN and intranet architectures to meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
• Evaluate, select, and deploy network hardware and software solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and monitoring tools.
• Lead integration and ongoing optimisation of network services such as VoIP, cloud connectivity, and telecommunications systems.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance network performance, including proactive identification and resolution of complex infrastructure issues.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers while collaborating with IT and business teams to align network strategy with organisational goals.

Network Engineer - Required Experience

• 8–15 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, architecture, or data centre environments.
• Strong expertise in routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP, STP, multicast) and complex LAN/WAN design.
• Proven experience with network security technologies including firewalls, VPNs, DDoS protection, WAF, proxy services, and NAC solutions.
• Solid knowledge of cloud networking, overlay/underlay architectures, and enterprise network design principles.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Fortinet, Juniper, and Cisco, along with strong troubleshooting skills for complex IP networks.
