Project context:
APHA requires a consolidated, scalable and compliant Umbraco website capability that enables scientific teams and partner collaborators to create, manage, update and retire externally facing websites quickly and consistently.
The platform must provide a governed approach to external website delivery, ensuring all sites meet accessibility requirements and align with GOV.UK standards. It should enable APHA to respond rapidly to scientific, project and event-driven needs, including the creation of short-notice websites and the promotion of conferences or other events.
Crucially, the solution should allow APHA and Defra content teams to manage site content independently, without relying on code changes or technical intervention. It should also support the rapid onboarding of new sites and the controlled decommissioning of sites when they are no longer required.
The initial delivery will migrate four existing websites into a reusable templated platform, establishing a repeatable model for future website creation and management.
