Senior Delivery Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a portfolio of applications and services while maintaining strong client relationships. This role combines hands-on delivery leadership with client engagement accountability, ensuring programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Client & Relationship Management

  • Manage end-to-end client relationships across a portfolio of applications, acting as the primary point of accountability for delivery performance and client satisfaction
  • Build trust and confidence with clients through demonstrated capability and consistent delivery
  • Identify opportunities to grow the account based on performance and client need
  • Support business development activities including presentations, proposals, and negotiations

Delivery Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of large, complex programmes spanning application and infrastructure workstreams
  • Drive delivery performance by working collaboratively with internal teams, business units, and third-party suppliers
  • Manage programme risks, issues, dependencies, controls, and financial forecasting
  • Ensure realistic estimation, budget management, and cost awareness across all programmes
  • Troubleshoot complex delivery challenges and implement effective corrective actions
  • Lead cross-service line delivery, aligning teams across multiple disciplines

Governance & Reporting

  • Own programme monitoring, control, and forecasting activities
  • Apply structured risk assessment and management techniques throughout delivery
  • Ensure compliance with agreed delivery methodologies, governance frameworks, and quality standards
  • Provide clear and regular reporting to senior stakeholders and client leadership


Required Experience

  • Minimum 15 years in delivery management within technology services environments
  • Proven track record delivering large, complex programmes with a labour value of £10m+ and teams of 100+
  • Managed at least 5 major programmes (application and infrastructure) for mid-to-large organisations with turnovers of £250m–£2bn
  • Demonstrable experience managing third-party suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong financial acumen with a track record of realistic estimation and cost control
  • Experience delivering cross-service line programmes in complex enterprise environments


Technical & Methodological Skills

  • Strong understanding of both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies
  • Familiarity with KI NXT delivery methodology and BMS knowledge and process toolset
  • PM Certification at Programme Manager level (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Programme Management at Level 7 or above
  • Proven application of risk assessment and management methods

  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships confidently
  • Proven strategic and operational leadership across large, diverse teams
  • Financial and commercial awareness with the ability to take ownership of programme budgets
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving under pressure
  • Clear and credible communicator at all levels, including C-suite


Essential Requirements

  • 15+ years delivery management experience
  • £10m+ programme experience with teams of 100+
  • PM Certification (Programme Manager level)
  • Strong risk, financial, and governance management capability
  • Proven client engagement and account management experience
