About The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Oracle Lead Developer to join our client’s dynamic team based in Glasgow. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of high-quality Oracle database solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the technical landscape of the organization, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient database systems. You will collaborate closely with architects, business stakeholders, and development teams to deliver solutions that align with strategic objectives. Additionally, mentoring junior developers and overseeing the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) will be key components of your responsibilities, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Oracle database development, specifically with Oracle 19c. You should have advanced proficiency in PL/SQL programming, including the development of procedures, packages, functions, and views. Proven experience in leading development efforts or managing small teams is essential, along with a solid understanding of database design principles and performance tuning techniques. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, SVN, or PVCS, as well as project management tools like JIRA and Confluence, is required. Exposure to Oracle Forms/Reports (D2K), Oracle Hub, and cloud platforms such as AWS will be considered advantageous. A track record of producing clear technical documentation, including Technical Design Documents (TDDs), and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively are also important qualifications.
Responsibilities
As an Oracle Lead Developer, your key responsibilities will include leading the analysis, design, and development of Oracle database solutions, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards. You will develop and optimize complex PL/SQL code, including procedures, packages, and views, to support business requirements. Collaborating with architects and stakeholders, you will define technical solutions and produce comprehensive Technical Design Documents (TDDs). Leading code reviews and ensuring quality assurance throughout the development process will be vital. You will own the entire SDLC, overseeing tasks from initial design through testing and deployment, while acting as a primary point of contact for development teams. Supporting project managers and business analysts, you will ensure project timelines and requirements are met effectively. Additionally, mentoring junior and mid-level developers, providing technical guidance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives will be integral to your role.
