Freelance Integrations Engineer | Retal Industry | Manchester (Hybrid) | Outside IR35 Contract

Model: Full-time, 3 days per week on site in Manchester

Duration: 7 months

A well-known international retailer is hiring contract Integrations Engineers to join its Global Technology team in Manchester as part of a major nine-month data modernisation programme, replatforming its entire data and reporting estate onto Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran and a modern Azure integration stack.

You will design, build, test and operate integrations on Azure - APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus and Event Grid - connecting enterprise SaaS platforms including Workday, Oracle Symphony, NetSuite and ecommerce systems into the organisation's data, finance and operational infrastructure. You will also help stabilise and migrate flows from a legacy Mulesoft Anypoint estate onto the new Azure stack.

What you will be doing:

• Building and operating Azure integrations across APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus and Event Grid
• Writing Function Apps in C# or Node.js including bindings, configuration and deployment packaging
• Building and maintaining APIs in Azure APIM including OpenAPI specs, policies, OAuth 2.0 security and rate limiting
• Monitoring production integrations using Application Insights and Log Analytics and resolving failures with clear root-cause analysis
• Contributing to CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions
• Supporting UAT cycles run by Business Analysts and participating in peer code reviews and on-call rota

What we are looking for:

• 3+ years of commercial experience as an Integrations Engineer
• Strong hands-on experience with at least three of: APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid - recent production build experience required
• Comfortable writing Function Apps in C# or Node.js
• Strong API skills: REST, JSON, OpenAPI, OAuth 2.0
• Familiarity with Key Vault, Managed Identity, Application Insights and Log Analytics
• Right to work in the UK without sponsorship

Desirable:

• Microsoft Azure certifications (Developer Associate, Integration specialty or Solutions Architect)
• Experience integrating with Workday, Oracle Symphony or NetSuite
• CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Bicep or Terraform
• Working knowledge of Mulesoft Anypoint for legacy estate support
• Background in retail, hospitality or omnichannel environments
