Network Security Engineer - 3-6 months - Outside IR35

We're hiring a Network Security Engineer to join one of our customers. This is a hands-on role for a highly skilled network and security engineer with strong service provider experience.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and optimise the core network for performance, resilience, and uptime.
• Support core firewalls, switches, and routing platforms across data centre and edge environments.
• Automate network tasks and provisioning using Python, Ansible, and REST APIs.
• Maintain routing, peering, IP addressing, and network policies.
• Work closely with SOC/NOC teams to ensure security, stability, and compliance.
• Follow and enforce change control and operational best practices.
• Design and deploy Managed LAN, Wireless, and Security solutions.
• Deliver Fortinet solutions including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
• Implement Cisco routing and Cisco Meraki solutions for customer environments.
• Configure VPNs, SD-WAN, Firewall policies, and network segmentation.
• Support project delivery, documentation, and technical handovers.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.

Key Skills:

• Previous experience within an MSP or ISP environment.
• Fortinet NSE 7/FCSS certified.
• CCNP or CCIE certified.
• Strong Cisco routing experience across IOS, IOS-XE, and IOS-XR.
• Deep understanding of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Route Reflectors, IPv4/IPv6, and enterprise networking.
• Experience with automation and Scripting using Python, Ansible, and APIs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Layers 2-7.
• Confident communicator with strong documentation and customer-facing experience.

Contract Details:

• Duration: 3-6 months (Initial)
• Location: Hybrid - London 2-3 Days/Remote
• Day Rate: £400 Per Day - £500 Per Day (Outside IR35)
• Start Date: ASAP
