Integrations Engineer (Outside IR35)
Numi has partnered with an international retailer founded. They run hundreds of shops across the UK, North America, and Asia, with additional shops run by franchise partners around the world. The company is transforming from a bricks-and-mortar focussed retailer to a truly customer-centric digital business with a leading consumer brand. They are aiming to better understand their customers and their preferences, so now is an exciting time to join.
The Role
The Integrations Engineer is hands-on in the day-to-day build and operation of the integration estate. You will primarily work on Azure – APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus and Event Grid – connecting SaaS systems including Workday, Oracle Symphony, NetSuite and ecommerce platforms into data, finance and operational systems. All new integration assets are being built on Azure. There is also a legacy Mulesoft Anypoint estate which the team is in the process of migrating away from. You will help keep this estate stable through its wind-down and contribute to migrating individual flows onto the Azure stack. Reporting to the Integrations Manager, you will work as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team delivering against fixed milestones in the modernisation programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test and operate integrations on the Azure stack, including APIs in APIM, Logic Apps workflows, Function Apps (C# or Node.js), Service Bus topics and queues, and Event Grid subscriptions.
- Translate integration requirements into working, well-tested flows that follow the Integrations Manager's patterns and standards.
- Build and maintain APIs in Azure APIM, including OpenAPI specs, policies, security and rate limiting.
- Build and maintain event-driven Azure integrations using Service Bus, Event Grid and Function Apps.
- Support the controlled wind-down of the legacy Mulesoft estate: keep existing flows operating reliably, and help re-platform flows onto Azure as part of the migration.
- Monitor integrations in production using Application Insights and Log Analytics; investigate and resolve failures, with clear root-cause analysis.
- Participate in the on-call rota for integration incidents.
- Participate in peer code reviews; accept feedback constructively and improve.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for integration deployment (Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions).
- Document integrations clearly – what they do, what they depend on, how to operate them.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies – stand-ups, planning, retrospectives.
- Support UAT cycles run by Business Analysts; bridge between technical and business sides of integration testing.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- 3+ years' commercial experience as an Integrations Engineer or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least three of the following Azure integration services: APIM, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid.
- Recent (within the last 12 months) production build experience required.
- Comfortable writing Function Apps in C# or Node.js, including bindings, configuration, and packaging for deployment.
- Strong API skills – REST, JSON, OpenAPI, OAuth 2.0 – applied in Azure or comparable environments.
- Working familiarity with the Azure platform components that support integrations – Key Vault, Managed Identity, Application Insights, Log Analytics.
- Experience with Git and standard branching / PR workflows.
- Experience building production-quality integrations with sensible error handling, retry, idempotency and monitoring.
- Comfortable working in Agile sprint-based delivery in a fast-paced environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Microsoft Azure certifications (Developer Associate, Integration specialty, or Solutions Architect).
- Experience integrating with Workday, Oracle Symphony or NetSuite specifically.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and message-based design on Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling for Azure integrations (Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Bicep, ARM or Terraform).
- Working knowledge of Mulesoft Anypoint Platform sufficient to operate flows on a legacy estate (genuinely useful for the migration; not required at hire).
- Experience in retail, hospitality, QSR or omnichannel.
