Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a Data Modeller to work with our Government client to provide data architecture and modelling expertise to ensure AI initiatives are grounded in trusted data and aligned with government standards.
As the Data Modeller, you will bridge the gap between high-level AI ambition and technical data reality. Your primary focus will be:
Data Discovery & Mapping: Identify and document the data entities, relationships, and flows required to support four specific AI use cases.
Case for Change Development: Contribute to the "Case for Change" documents by providing data feasibility assessments and high-level logical data models for proposed AI solutions.
Standards Alignment: Ensure all proposed data structures and AI delivery approaches align with the Government Digital and Data Standards and the CDDO Data Standards Authority guidelines.
Options Analysis: Collaborate with AI experts to provide high-level options analysis, detailing the data requirements, risks, and complexities for different implementation routes.
Cost & Benefit Profiling: Assist in building the implementation plan by estimating data engineering efforts and the value of data assets within the cost/benefit analysis.
Assurance: Provide technical assurance that the data foundations for AI initiatives are robust, scalable, and secure.
Technical Skills & Experience
Data Modelling: Proven experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling (ERDs, Dimensional Modelling, etc.).
AI/ML Data Readiness: Understanding of the specific data requirements for AI (eg, data quality for LLMs, vector embeddings, or structured training sets).
Government Standards: Deep familiarity with the Government Service Standard and how to apply data principles within a public sector framework.
Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to translate complex data structures for business cases and executive stakeholders.
Tools: Proficiency in modelling tools (eg, Erwin, Enterprise Architect, or LucidChart) and familiarity with modern data stack architectures.
Core Behaviours
We are looking for a professional who embodies the following traits:
Working Together: You thrive in a "blended team" environment, supporting colleagues and sharing expertise to reach a common goal.
Delivering at Pace: You are focused on the deadline, maintaining quality while ensuring the four cases for change move through the "front door" process efficiently.
Changing and Improving: You look for smarter, simpler ways to organise data, avoiding over-engineering in favour of agile, workable solutions.
