We are looking for an experienced Senior User Researcher (GDS) to join a fast-paced digital programme within a government-aligned environment. This role requires a practitioner who can lead user research end-to-end and operate confidently within GDS frameworks and Agile delivery teams.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Senior User Researcher within UK Government/Public Sector (GDS)
- In-depth knowledge of GDS Service Standard and Agile (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live)
- Proven ability to plan, design, and deliver user research independently
- Experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, and research synthesis
- Ability to turn insights into clear, actionable recommendations
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with Product Managers, Designers, and Developers
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary/multi-supplier environments
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver end-to-end user research activities
- Select appropriate research methods (qualitative and quantitative)
- Conduct user interviews and usability testing sessions
- Analyse findings and present insights to stakeholders
- Champion user-centred design and GDS best practice
- Support teams in making evidence-based decisions
Desirable
- Experience across multiple government departments
- Knowledge of accessibility (WCAG)
- Experience in complex or regulated environments
