Seon Diagnostics is an early-stage medical technology company focused on developing software solutions that enable the automated detection of disease from medical images. Our mission is to reduce the escalating costs and operational burden associated with image analysis, while allowing clinicians to dedicate more time to direct patient care.

Our first product is designed to identify diabetic retinopathy, a complication of diabetes that affects the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. By automating its detection, we aim to expand access to routine eye screening and ensure that it is available to all who need it, regardless of location.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Contract DevOps / MLOps Engineer to help improve and extend our existing training and deployment infrastructure.

This is a hands-on role focused on building reliable, maintainable systems. We need someone pragmatic and delivery-focused who can assess what exists today, simplify where needed, and implement robust solutions that will scale with the company.

This is primarily a strong DevOps role with exposure to image analysis MLOps workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and improve existing cloud environments to increase reliability, maintainability and resilience
  • Reduce operational fragility and technical debt in current systems
  • Support and enhance ML training environments running on GPU VMs
  • Improve monitoring, logging, backups, security and operational processes
  • Work closely with software and ML engineers to streamline development and training workflows

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience in DevOps / Platform Engineering / SRE roles
  • Excellent knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
  • Experience administering Linux-based production environments
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, networking and security fundamentals
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Practical experience with monitoring, alerting and logging tooling
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration
  • Knowledge of Python, at least at the level of writing simple data-crunching scripts.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with MLOps tooling and machine learning infrastructure
  • Familiarity with MLflow for experiment tracking and model lifecycle management
  • Experience supporting GPU workloads or training environments
  • Exposure to image processing / medical imaging workloads
  • Experience in regulated or security-conscious environments

Rate: £600 per day (Outside IR35)

Contract Duration: Initial 3 months, with likelihood of extension

Location: Remote (UK residents only)
