- Job Type: Contract
We are seeking an experienced Information Architect for a short, delivery-focused engagement aimed at enhancing information and records management across a complex, mixed systems environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in regulated or compliance-aware environments, ready to translate high-level policies into practical, operational solutions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Review the current state of information and records management across corporate and operational systems.
- Identify issues relating to information classification, metadata, retention, review, disposal, ownership, access controls, duplication, legacy content, and inconsistent application of information controls.
- Support the definition of what constitutes a record across different business activities, systems, and information types.
- Develop practical criteria and decision models to distinguish between formal records, working documents, reference material, and transitory or non-record content.
- Produce an initial records definition framework that can be applied consistently across the organisation.
- Design an approach to information and records management that works across multiple systems, rather than relying on a single repository.
- Contribute to a phased delivery roadmap, identifying priorities, dependencies, and risks.
- Advise on how Microsoft 365 governance and Microsoft Purview capabilities can support the overall information and records management approach.
- Engage stakeholders across business, IT, operations, information security, and governance functions.
- Apply experience from secure or regulated environments to ensure approaches are proportionate and implementable.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience in information governance, information management, or records management consulting.
- Proven ability to define and implement records approaches across multiple systems.
- Experience translating policy-level requirements into practical, operational record definitions.
- Strong understanding of retention, ownership, classification, and governance principles.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and delivering at pace.
- Experience within secure, regulated, or compliance-sensitive organisations.
- Records-management led rather than tool-led.
- Pragmatic, outcome-focused, and delivery-oriented.
- Able to balance governance requirements with operational reality.
- Confident working with senior stakeholders across business and technology.
- Clear communicator able to simplify complex information concepts.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Microsoft 365 governance, familiarity with Microsoft Purview, and experience dealing with legacy information.
Benefits:
- Flexible hybrid working model.
- Opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Exposure to complex, enterprise-level projects.
