Contract Data Engineer – Dagster Implementation Lead

Outside IR35 | UK Remote | Immediate start

Mega opportunity to own the Dagster Cloud implementation for a PE-backed group integrating multiple acquisitions and standardising its data platform.

The current stack is modern but orchestration is missing, with pipelines still largely manual:

Fivetran → dbt → Snowflake → BI

Role

You will lead the end-to-end implementation of Dagster Cloud (serverless), bringing structure, automation, and reliability across the full data pipeline.

Key focus

• Implement Dagster orchestration across ingestion, transform, and analytics layers
• Build scalable, modular asset-based workflows (multi-entity setup)
• Introduce proper lineage, observability, and reliability
• Remove manual pipeline execution
• Support near real-time data use cases

Stack

Snowflake, dbt Cloud, Fivetran, Azure (+ some GCP), modern BI / analytics tools

Essential experience

• Hands-on Dagster (or similar orchestration tools)
• Strong dbt Cloud experience
• Experience with Fivetran pipelines
• Ability to deliver end-to-end data pipeline implementations
