AWS DevOps Engineer / SRE – Contract

📍 Staines / West London

Hybrid, 2 days week on-site

Start: May 2026

Initial contract: 6 months, with strong extension potential

We’re looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer / SRE to join a busy team supporting mission-critical platforms in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.

This is very much an AWS DevOps / SRE role, focused on reliability, automation, observability and production support. The ideal person will also bring a software engineering background or strong application-level understanding, ideally across full stack or backend technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Scala, Java, GraphQL or similar.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting and enhancing AWS-based production platforms in a SRE capacity

• Operating and optimising containerised workloads with AWS ECS and Kubernetes / EKS

• Owning Infrastructure as Code using Terraform

• Working with Ansible and Puppet for configuration management

• Building, maintaining and troubleshooting GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines

• Owning monitoring, logging and alerting using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki or CloudWatch useful

• Supporting incident management, RCA and post-incident reviews

• Contributing to AWS security, backup, DR and cost optimisation best practice

• Working closely with software engineering teams to improve release quality, application resilience and production reliability

What we’re looking for:

• Strong recent AWS DevOps / SRE experience in production environments

• Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, Terraform, Ansible and/or Puppet

• Strong Grafana experience, ideally with Prometheus, Loki or CloudWatch

• GitHub / GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD experience

• Solid Linux, networking and security fundamentals

• Experience supporting 24/7 production systems

• Good scripting skills in Python, Bash or similar

• Software engineering background or strong application-level experience, ideally with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Scala, Java, GraphQL or similar

• Kubernetes / EKS experience would be highly beneficial

Contract setup:

• Up to 6 months initial contract

• Strong extension potential

• Outside IR35

• Hybrid, ideally 2 days per week on-site in Staines / West London
