Consultant Engineer (AWS), Outside IR35, Fully Remote (UK only)

A global technology consultancy is supporting a major financial services organisation through a large-scale cloud transformation programme and is seeking Consultant Engineers (AWS) to join their delivery team.

This programme involves migrating a vast, complex estate of virtual machines and applications into AWS, spanning multiple global data centres currently costing tens of millions per month to operate. With tens of thousands of virtual machines already assessed and a significant migration roadmap underway, this is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to a critical modernisation initiative.

The Role

The successful candidates will work within an established engineering team, delivering hands-on AWS solutions across infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. You will be assigned clearly defined workstreams and supported by senior consultants, while still being expected to take ownership and deliver independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on AWS engineering across infrastructure and platform services
• Build secure, scalable, and repeatable environments using Infrastructure as Code
• Contribute to automation and CI/CD pipeline development
• Support migration activities from on-premise/data centre environments into AWS
• Collaborate with senior engineers and wider delivery teams across multiple workstreams

Key Skills & Experience

• Experience with core AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
• Infrastructure as Code using OpenTofu or Terraform
• CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance
• Strong Linux and/or Windows systems administration knowledge
• Understanding of networking fundamentals
• Exposure to containers (Docker, ECS, EKS) and/or serverless (Lambda)
• Awareness of security automation and monitoring integrations

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on engineering experience
• Ability to take ownership of defined tasks and deliver with minimal supervision
• Strong willingness to learn and develop under senior mentorship
