We’re recruiting a Systems Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team delivering innovative Digital Airport and Remote Tower solutions at the forefront of aviation technology. This is a high‑energy role where technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration are key.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Lead (Europe), you’ll work closely with senior technical and operational leaders to design, deploy, and support complex systems used in live airport environments.
You’ll be involved end‑to‑end — from requirements and design through installation, testing, optimisation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to define solution requirements and technical specifications
- Install, configure, and test operating systems, applications, and system management tools onsite
- Support Solution Architects with system design, development, and deployment requirements
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and work with developers to implement fixes
- Manage change control and prevent scope creep, making Change Order recommendations where required
- Produce high‑quality technical, operational, and training documentation
- Research new hardware, software, and methods to improve system performance
- Act as a change agent in continuous improvement initiatives and formal methodologies
- Work across multiple concurrent projects in global markets
- Support ongoing and future sales opportunities
About You
You’ll bring a strong technical background and experience delivering business‑critical, real‑time systems.
Essential experience includes:
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical background (IT, Systems Engineering, or similar)
- Experience in systems development or integration projects
- Eligibility for UK government‑level security clearance
- Strong experience with Windows and Linux/UNIX environments
- Installing and configuring Linux on Hyper‑V
- Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, OSI layers, switches, firewalls, routers)
- Understanding of software development lifecycles and project management methodologies
You’ll also have:
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- The ability to learn quickly and manage multiple priorities
Travel & Location
- Remote role based in the UK
- 30–40% travel, primarily to Manchester and London
- Occasional international travel to Europe, North America, or APAC
