Enterprise Data Architect | Research and Innovation | Outside IR35 | Circa £600 per day | London Hybrid

We are supporting a large, complex organisation operating at the intersection of science, data, and technology, and are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to join on a contract basis.

This role sits between enterprise strategy and data delivery. It is not a pure governance or frameworks role, and it is not hands-on data engineering. We are looking for someone who can think and operate at enterprise level while remaining close enough to delivery to shape practical, scalable solutions across a genuinely complex data estate.

The organisation works with large, heterogeneous datasets across multiple domains and partners closely with major commercial technology providers. The successful candidate will help define the architecture strategy for a key part of the business, influence what moves into solution, and then support delivery as that strategy is executed.

Essential experience

• Enterprise-level architectural experience within a large, complex organisation, specifically shaping strategy before delivery is defined
• Proven solutions architecture capability with end-to-end ownership of complex technical solutions
• Strong data architecture background spanning both strategy and delivery
• Evidence of influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders without reliance on escalation
• Comfortable leading in ambiguity where requirements are not yet defined, and equally comfortable driving delivery once they are
• Background in one or more of the following: pharmaceuticals, biotech, genomics, clinical research, medical technology, academic research institutions, NHS or wider healthcare, or large-scale scientific data environments
• Familiarity with major cloud platforms, AWS or Google Cloud preferred

Desirable

• Experience in adjacent sectors where complex, regulated, or research-led data is central, including financial services, defence, or government data programmes
• TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture framework knowledge
• Experience working alongside major commercial technology partners at a strategic level
• SaaS estate experience at scale

Contract: Outside IR35

Rate: Circa £600 per day

Duration: 6 months

Location: London preferred, hybrid with occasional travel to offices

Start: Early May
