This is a hybrid role, where occasional travel (few times per month) will be required to Tunbridge Wells - so please only apply if this is possible for you.


Location: UK-based (preference for candidates near Tunbridge Wells)

Duration: 3–6 months

Day Rate: £400

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

About the Role


We’re looking for a Proof of Concept Developer to help turn innovative data ideas into tangible, high-impact solutions. You’ll play a key role in rapidly prototyping data products using modern technologies, helping the business validate concepts and unlock value quickly.

You’ll be embedded within a cross-functional data squad, working alongside Data Engineers, Data Modellers, and Business Analysts to design and deliver scalable, production-ready concepts.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design and develop Proof of Concept data products using Databricks and related technologies
  • Translate business requirements into technical prototypes in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Build, test, and iterate data pipelines, notebooks, and models within Databricks
  • Present findings, prototypes, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Document processes, decisions, and outcomes for knowledge sharing
  • Ensure all development follows best practices, governance, and security standards
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and bring new ideas into the team



Key Skills & Experience


Technical:

Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and cloud platforms (ideally Azure)

Proven experience developing data products, pipelines, and prototypes in enterprise environments

Expertise in data preparation, transformation, and integration from multiple sources

Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks

  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to clearly present complex technical concepts
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working both independently and within agile teams
