Shape the future of data delivery in a fast-growing fintech environment where your expertise will directly transform how data products reach internal stakeholders.

Salary: £500 - 550 per day
Location: South West London (Hybrid – 4 days per month on-site)

We are supporting an insurance fintech organisation as they continue to mature their data platform and data product capability. We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with product ownership capability to bring structure to a disjointed backlog and drive delivery across their Data Engineering function.

This is a high-impact, delivery-focused role where the priority is creating clarity, shaping requirements, and enabling consistent, incremental delivery of data products to internal users.

The Role

This is a BA-led role with ownership of backlog and delivery shaping, sitting between business stakeholders (primarily data scientists and analysts), engineering teams, and third-party partners.

You will take control of a backlog that currently lacks structure, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, prioritised, and broken down into incremental deliverables that enable early validation and minimise rework.

The role is business-facing but sits within a data engineering environment, requiring strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex data needs into clear outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage a delivery-ready backlog, ensuring clarity, structure and prioritisation
  • Elicit and shape requirements from stakeholders, translating into clear, testable user stories
  • Break down complex requests into thin, incremental slices to support iterative delivery
  • Challenge stakeholders to move from broad asks ("all the data") to pragmatic, deliverable outcomes
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure work is properly scoped and understood pre-delivery
  • Manage dependencies across teams and third-party suppliers
  • Drive visibility, accountability and follow-through across delivery
  • Support Agile ways of working through refinement, planning and iterative delivery cycles

Experience Required

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst, ideally with product / backlog ownership
  • Proven ability to operate in unstructured environments and bring clarity to delivery
  • Experience working within data, analytics or platform teams
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience breaking down complex requirements into incremental, deliverable outputs
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Comfortable managing cross-team dependencies and driving outcomes
  • Exposure to cloud environments (ideally GCP)
  • Experience within regulated environments (insurance or financial services)

Contract Details

  • 6-month contract, £500–£550 per day, Outside IR35
  • Hybrid – 4 days per month on-site (South West London)
  • Working closely with the Head of Data Engineering and data teams
  • Immediate focus on backlog ownership, requirement clarity and delivery momentum

Join a dynamic team where your analytical skills will drive meaningful change in data product delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
