Network Engineer at Reed, Coventry, £Contract Rate

Network Engineer - Fortigate / Azure Migration // 3 -6 months Contract // £450-550 per day (Outside IR35) // Remote

REED Technology are working with a client who are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a major cloud migration programme, moving from an on-premise data centre to Microsoft Azure. This role will play a key part in network design, VPN migration, and firewall implementation, with ownership of the design and planning elements of the network architecture.

This is a hands-on contract with genuine responsibility and impact in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a new network architecture to support Azure migration
• Lead the shutdown of an existing on-prem data centre (no hardware refresh)
• Design and implement VPN changes and LPN migration
• Act as the network design authority where a third-party partner was initially expected
• Support internal teams, including Customer Experience and Salesforce platforms
• Ensure secure, scalable, and well-documented network solutions

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer / Network Architect in contract roles
• Strong hands-on expertise with Fortigate / FortiGate firewalls
• Experience with FortiManager and authentication
• Solid understanding of VPN design and migration
• Comfortable working in environments away from Cisco technologies
• Strong design, planning, and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership

Desirable Experience

• Azure networking experience (VNets, gateways, hybrid connectivity)
• Experience supporting cloud-first or cloud-only environments
• Relevant networking or security certifications (Fortinet or equivalent)
