Full Stack Engineer at Circle Recruitment, London, £Contract Rate

Role: Full-Stack Engineer
Salary/Rate: £250-300 per day outside IR35
Location: Mainly remote - occasional London visits
Contract Duration: 12-months

We are currently looking for a Full-Stack Engineer for our client, an independent research technology start-up.

This Full-Stack Engineer role is mainly remote, with occasional visits to the London office, as required by the business.

Candidates must be based in the UK and already have the right to work. There is no further flexibility with the on-site requirement.

The contract for the Full-Stack Engineer position is for 12-months, with potential to extend, operating outside IR35.

Essential skills/experience required:

• Proven previous experience as a full-stack engineer
• Python (Flask)
• React background
• Comfortable working in AWS-hosted environments (with EKS)
• Proficiency in Git-based development workflows
• Experience working independently and communicating effectively in distributed teams

Desirable :

• Familiarity with (or happy to learn):
  • Apache Spark (EMR) and Delta Lake
  • PostgreSQL (Aurora)
  • CI/CD (Github Actions) and IaC (Helm, CloudFormation)
  • Monitoring (Sentry)
• Knowledge/interest in research or academic writings/publishing

Role / Responsibilities:

• Backend development using Python (Flask)
• Maintain and improve the TypeScript/React-based frontend application.
• Build and manage containerised services deployed on AWS, utilising Kubernetes orchestration.
• Support data and transformation workflows (Spark)
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and improve overall application performance.
• Handle and resolve live production issues efficiently and under time pressure.
• Collaborate closely with product and data teams to deliver new features and maintain existing systems.
