Contract: Cloud Desktop Engineer

Location: London - 50% onsite, 50% remote
Rate: £500 - £550 per day outside of IR35

The Cloud Desktop Engineer will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and support of cloud-based desktop solutions. This role will support the global transition from Legacy VDI infrastructure to modern cloud desktop environments. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams across regions to ensure seamless deployment, performance optimization, and user experience improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement cloud desktop solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and security standards.
- Collaborate with global teams to support the migration of users from on-prem VDI to cloud desktops.
- Monitor and optimize performance, availability, and scalability of cloud desktop environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to virtual desktop infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with regional and global regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 2 years focused on cloud desktop or VDI technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, global team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation tools and Scripting (eg, PowerShell, Terraform).
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and enterprise change management processes.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty or Citrix Certified Associate.
