NETWORK ENGINEER - OUTSIDE IR35

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Engineer to join a dynamic technology team within a fast-paced investment banking environment. This role is ideal for an individual with strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience supporting enterprise-grade network infrastructure in a regulated, high-availability setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, configure, and maintain enterprise network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud-based network services .
  • Monitor network performance, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance .
  • Assist in the design and implementation of secure, scalable network solutions aligned with business and security requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve network incidents and support ongoing business initiatives.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of network configurations, processes, and incident resolutions .
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond promptly to network-related incidents and outages.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer within an investment banking or financial services environment .
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network security principles .
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco switching and Meraki wireless technologies.
  • Experience with SASE / Zero Trust security platforms , preferably Zscaler ; experience with Cloudflare Zero Trust, Palo Alto Prisma Access, or Netskope is also highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and resolve incidents efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience managing and supporting Palo Alto firewalls .
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems .
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a collaborative team .
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science , or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
