Project Manager – ERP / CRM Systems Improvement

Contract: 6 months (with a view to extend)

Location: Manchester Area - Rochdale

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 1–2 days per week in the office

Rate: £400–£500 per day - Outside IR35 (depending on experience)

Overview

Our client is a UK technology solutions provider supporting government, utilities, and private sector organisations. As part of continued operational and systems improvement initiatives, they are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to deliver enhancements to a custom-built ERP/CRM platform used across the business.

The focus of the role is improving system functionality, operational workflows, data capture, and audit trails within the platform to better support operational teams and improve the quality of business data.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, operational teams, and internal developers to identify areas for improvement and deliver system enhancements that support more efficient processes and better data visibility.

The role requires a Project Manager who is comfortable operating in complex stakeholder environments, where systems and processes have evolved over time and successful delivery depends on building trust and alignment across the organisation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of ERP/CRM system improvement projects, from requirements gathering through to implementation and handover to Service Delivery.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and operational teams to identify opportunities to improve workflows, system functionality, and data capture processes.
  • Manage enhancements to the organisation’s custom-built ERP/CRM platform, ensuring improvements support operational efficiency and data integrity.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and risks, ensuring delivery within agreed parameters.
  • Coordinate delivery across internal development teams, operational stakeholders, and external suppliers where required.
  • Oversee testing phases, user acceptance testing (UAT), and successful deployment into production.
  • Ensure appropriate project governance, documentation, and communication across stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, helping to align priorities and support the adoption of improved systems and processes.
  • Contribute technical input to commercial tenders and proposals where required.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced delivery environment.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering ERP or CRM system implementation, optimisation, or transformation projects.
  • Experience working with custom-built or heavily configured enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of data capture processes, data integrity, and system audit trails within operational platforms.
  • Experience improving business processes supported by ERP or CRM systems, including workflows and operational reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience working closely with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into system improvements.
  • Experience managing delivery across technical teams, developers, and operational users.
  • Strong understanding of testing processes, system integration,
  • Ability to independently develop and manage complex project plans and resource requirements.
  • Experience delivering projects in stakeholder-heavy environments, where influencing and gaining buy-in from senior leaders is essential.
  • Business analysis capability, including requirements gathering and process mapping.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and project management software.


Qualifications


  • Prince2, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
