SCCM/MECM Systems Engineer, £400 per day outside IR35

6 months initially, Glasgow

Bench IT require an experienced SCCM/MECM Engineer to join a large organisation starting ASAP working in Glasgow. Our customer require a dedicated SCCM/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) specialist to support the transition and operational readiness of a rugged engineering laptop managed service. This role will provide hands-on expertise to establish, operate, and hand over the SCCM capability required to support Windows 11 build/deployment, patching via deployment rings, and application deployment as the service moves into steady-state operations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable, hands-on experience delivering SCCM/MECM (ConfigMgr) in production environments (not just exposure).
  • Strong endpoint deployment background, including Windows 11 deployment/build capability.
  • Proven patching experience using ringed rollouts (Pilot/Targeted/Broad).
  • Experience supporting a transition/take-on where documentation and handover are explicit deliverables.
  • SCCM/MECM Ownership (Rugged Laptop Estate) - Provide hands-on administration and operational ownership of SCCM/MECM for the rugged laptop service.Deliver SCCM set-up and handover activities required for the transition into BAU.
  • Windows 11 Build/Deployment Support - Support the laptop service requirement to apply and maintain an agreed Windows 11 build/deployment approach for rugged engineering laptops.
  • Patch Management (Deployment Rings) - Operate patching in line with the defined rollout method using Pilot/Targeted/Broad deployment rings, ensuring stability and predictable change.
  • Application Deployment & Operational Readiness - Support and enable application deployment within a managed service environment that includes broader application lifecycle responsibilities.
  • Documentation, Knowledge Transfer & BAU Handover - Produce practical documentation/runbooks and support knowledge transfer activities aligned to the programme's transition expectations. Operate within managed service processes (incident/request/change) as the service embeds into BAU operations.
