Enterprise Data Architect - Research & Innovation

Outside IR35 | £DOE | Immediate Start

We are supporting a leading organisation within the Research & Innovation space and are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to join on a contract basis.

This role sits at the intersection of enterprise strategy and data delivery. It is not a pure Enterprise Architect position focused on governance alone, nor is it a hands-on Data Engineer role. We are looking for someone who can think at enterprise level while remaining close enough to delivery to shape practical, scalable solutions.

The organisation operates in a complex medical and scientific data environment, and the successful candidate will help align technology and data architecture to broader organisational strategy while influencing future direction.

• Shape and influence enterprise data architecture across a broad research portfolio

• Align data and technology strategy to organisational objectives

• Assess architectural approaches and define target-state design

• Challenge and shape business cases and investment decisions

• Engage and present to senior stakeholders and C-Suite audiences

• Support delivery teams to ensure solutions are robust and fit for purpose

• Enterprise-level architectural experience within complex organisations

• Strong data architecture background from a solutions perspective

• Experience shaping and assessing architecture, not just building data platforms

• Exposure to research, clinical trials, pharma, or scientific data environments

• Experience working within AWS environments

• Familiarity with Snowflake

• Proven experience delivering at enterprise scale

This is a strategic but delivery centric role, ideal for someone comfortable influencing direction while remaining outcome-focused.
