Senior Contract Software Engineer - GenAI

3-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Leeds - 1 day a week

WRK digital are delighted to shortlisting for 2 Contract Software Engineers to join a cutting-edge GenAI project team who are building an intelligent knowledge platform for a leading digital consultancy. This is a hands-on development role focused on delivering production-ready AI features using modern web technologies.

The Stack

Full Stack: Next.js, React, TypeScript

Front End: Tailwind CSS, ShadCN

AI: Anthropic / Claude Code / Claude API SDK

Backend: AWS services, SQL DBMS / ClickHouse

Infrastructure: AWS

What You'll Do

• Build AI-powered features and user interfaces with Next.js and React
• Integrate Anthropic Claude API into application workflows
• Develop scalable, performant TypeScript applications
• Work with AWS services and ClickHouse timeseries database
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver quality solutions

What we'd like to see

Essential:

• Strong commercial experience with Next.js, React and TypeScript
• Proven track record building AI-enabled features (Claude, OpenAI, or similar LLM APIs)
• Solid AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, etc.)
• Understanding of AI integration patterns and prompt engineering
• Ability to work autonomously and deliver to deadlines

Nice to Have:

• Experience with ClickHouse or timeseries databases
• Knowledge of RAG architectures and vector search
• ShadCN component library experience
• Consultancy or client-facing project experience

Location: Leeds city centre (hybrid 1-2 days week)
