Contract Data Project Manager | 6 months | Fully Remote | Outside IR35 | £450-£520 per day | Start: Next Week

I'm supporting a client undertaking a major data migration from multiple Legacy systems into a new CRM (Salesforce). They need a contract Data Project Manager who can step in immediately, bring structure, and drive delivery at pace. This role requires someone confident managing complex data workstreams, experienced in CRM migrations, and able to add value almost immediately.

Role Purpose
The Data Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the data sync process between existing systems and the migration of Legacy data from the current CRM platform into Salesforce.
The role ensures data quality, integrity, compliance, and business continuity throughout the migration life cycle, working closely with IT, business stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory teams.
You'll be working with a team of around 7-8 people across data, engineering, CRM, and business functions, alongside a Data Architect and Data Analyst.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, dependencies, and RAID logs
  • Manage delivery against time, cost, quality, and regulatory constraints
  • Day to day management of the data team, system integrators, and third party vendors
  • Provide clear reporting to programme governance forums and senior stakeholders
  • Own and drive the data delivery plan
  • Keep the team aligned, accountable, and moving at pace
  • Manage risks, blockers, and dependencies across data and CRM workstreams
  • Ensure data quality, readiness, and migration activities stay on track
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all data migration activities
  • Work with business owners across customer service, billing, metering, and operations
  • Support UAT cycles and business sign off
  • Act as the link between technical teams and business stakeholders
Data Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure the migration complies with industry regulations, GDPR, and internal governance policies
  • Implement data quality standards, controls, and audit trails
Salesforce & Technical Coordination
  • Work closely with Salesforce architects and developers to align migration with platform design
  • Oversee migration tools and technologies, including Microsoft Fabric
  • Manage multiple test cycles (dry runs, mock migrations, dress rehearsals)
  • Support go live and post migration hypercare
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience managing large scale CRM data migrations, ideally to Salesforce
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric as a data migration and data sync tool
  • Strong background in data project management within complex, regulated environments
  • Experience working with Legacy systems and complex data models
  • Solid understanding of data migration methodologies and best practices
  • Demonstrable experience delivering projects in the electricity or gas industry
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working with system integrators and offshore/onshore delivery teams
  • Ability to hit the ground running and add value from day two
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Hands on experience with Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or Energy & Utilities Cloud)
  • Knowledge of electricity industry data domains (customer, metering, billing, network operations)
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and master data management
