SC Cleared Senior Platform Engineer (Senior DevOps)

Day Rate: £550pd (Outside IR35)
Travel to Newcastle twice per month
Active SC Clearance required
Position Overview:
The Senior Platform Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the platform and infrastructure components of the DevSecOps/PlatOps environments within our Continuous Improvement Teams. This role includes configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting the underlying systems to support software development activities and ensure the smooth operation of production applications. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the scalability, availability, and reliability of the infrastructure that supports software delivery pipelines, collaborating across teams to identify, triage, resolve, and continuously improve platform-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of secure systems; develop infrastructure solutions focusing on high availability, scalability, and resilience using cloud services, container orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practises.
- Implement automation for infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and maintenance, minimising manual tasks and enhancing deployment efficiency and reliability through Configuration as Code (CaC).
- Establish robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure platform reliability and optimise system performance by analysing metrics and logs.
- Collaborate with the security team to integrate security best practises within infrastructure and systems, ensuring compliance with standards and managing identity and access controls throughout the CI/CD pipeline.
- Partner with developers and security teams to understand application requirements, optimise CI/CD pipelines, and facilitate efficient application deployments across various environments.
- Proactively manage incidents and ensure platforms are continuously monitored, addressing issues promptly while implementing automated remediation.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in cloud technologies, DevSecOps practises, and system architecture to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24/7 support for the production platform.
Key Competencies:
- Proven experience in platform engineering, DevSecOps, or related roles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and container orchestration (e.g., Docker).
- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Understanding of security best practises and experience with security frameworks (e.g., OWASP).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Active SC Clearance is required for this position
