Overview

Kobu Smart Ltd is expanding its IT Smart Hands and Field Engineering pool to support a growing portfolio of MSP partners across Greater London and surrounding regions.

This is a contractual, ad-hoc engagement model, offering flexible on-site and remote assignments, with longer-term and permanent opportunities available for high-performing engineers.

Engagement Model

• Contract / Freelance (Outside IR35 where applicable)
• Ad-hoc and recurring assignments
• Hybrid: On-site and remote support
• Performance-led pathway to stable, recurring work and potential permanent roles

Primary Locations

• Central London (King’s Cross / St Pancras)
• London SE & Dagenham
• Heathrow area
• Buckinghamshire
• Wider London as required

Key Responsibilities

• On-site IT support (hands & eyes, troubleshooting, installations)
• Desk-side user support (Tier 1 & Tier 2)
• Hardware replacements, patching, cabling, and basic networking
• Microsoft 365 user support and troubleshooting
• Remote support where applicable
• Client-facing professionalism at all times

Required Experience

• Previous MSP or field-based IT support experience
• Comfortable working independently on client sites
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Own transport preferred (not mandatory for central London roles)
• Right to work in the UK

Pay Structure (Indicative Averages) Rates vary by scope, urgency, and location. The following reflects sustainable averages aligned with ongoing MSP partner demand.Ad-hoc On-Site Support

• £20 – £30 per hour
• Short-notice or one-off visits
• Typically 4–8 hour assignments

Recurring On-Site Visits

• £18 – £25 per hour (averaged monthly)
• Predictable, scheduled visits
• Ideal for engineers seeking regular supplemental income

Remote Support (Tier 1 / Tier 2)

• £15 – £22 per hour
• Helpdesk, Microsoft 365 tasks, basic troubleshooting
• Expansion opportunities available with increased responsibility

Higher-complexity or escalation work is paid at premium rates and assessed case-by-case.
