Senior Data Platform Engineer Contract Role

London Hybrid: 2-3 days pw onsite Duration: 3-6 months initially Outside IR35 Rate: £500–£625/day

We are supporting a leading organisation in the migration of their Azure estate to Microsoft Fabric and the build of a modern data platform. They are looking for a contract Data Platform Engineer with deep Data Engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code experience to help deliver this transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Build robust CI/CD pipelines from the ground up across a modern Azure data stack
• Implement DBT from scratch, focusing on infrastructure and deployment (not just usage)
• Drive migration from Azure to Microsoft Fabric
• Evaluate and implement Terraform and/or Bicep for infrastructure automation
• Collaborate closely with data engineers and architects on scalable, secure deployment workflows

Requirements

• Ideally from a Data Engineering background
• Strong hands-on knowledge of the Azure ecosystem (e.g., Synapse, Azure DevOps, Key Vault)
• Solid experience with infrastructure as code, especially Terraform and/or Bicep
• Hands-on implementation experience with DBT
• Comfortable designing and explaining DevOps architecture and pipelines
• Industry experience in energy, utilities, or property is a bonus, but not essential
