Contract Description

AirWalk are a transformation consultancy, delivering technology led solutions to complex problems.

We have expertise across a number of technologies including Cloud, Security, Engineering, Automation and Operations and have a significant track record of delivery in retail and corporate banking, wealth management, digital payments, insurance and public sector.

We help customers develop and deliver new digital products and services, transform their digital customer experience, modernise and automate their services and operations, leverage data to better understand their customers and modernise their workplace technology.

We are known for building great teams who get stuff done. Our ethos is to hire the best people we can, support them in developing their career, then get out of their way. We want people to develop and grow here. We do that through a really generous training and development scheme, access to and support from highly experienced colleagues and partners and the chance to work on a wide variety of projects across multiple sectors.

The common theme is that we tend to work in relatively small teams in big, global organisations where there are usually significant legacy technology challenges to overcome and lots of organisational complexity.

Our teams are typically made up of Programme Delivery Consultants in collaboration with Product, Architecture, Security and Engineering. The work we do is varied, so the people who tend to excel here are comfortable working across multiple sectors in a variety of roles with plenty of ambiguity.

Typical projects you might work on could look like:

  • Building a brand new modern workplace environment from scratch using the latest cloud native and collaboration technologies
  • Enabling the launch of new digital products and innovation across a bank through the use of AWS and Azure
  • Building and managing an AWS / EKS based microservice hosting platform
  • Leading application migrations onto a modern containerised platform for a global Financial Services business
  • Defining and delivering Cloud Security standards on AWS for a challenger bank

As an AirWalk Engineer you will always work in a team and you will always be around people you can learn from. We don 't have a pool table, beanbags or nerf guns but we do guarantee variety, the ability to influence, genuine personal development opportunities, and really challenging problems to solve.

We like our engineers to have a broad range of technology expertise but critical thinking, problem solving and a desire to keep learning are important. That said, our Engineers generally have experience in most of the below:

  • A strong Engineering background, ideally with experience implementing enterprise development or infrastructure solutions
  • Excellent Linux administration experience
  • Good Cloud Engineering skills including AWS experience, in-particular in high availability, multi-region production environments
  • Infrastructure as code experience - specifically Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Configuration management experience - Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment configuration, particularly pipelines as code
  • Good Development or scripting experience - Bash and one of Python, Ruby or Perl
  • Experience building cloud solutions with a strong focus on security, compliance and resilience
  • Working knowledge of microservices and container-based systems (Docker, Kubernetes / EKS, Mesos)
  • Infrastructure build and configuration of a variety of AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, relational and non-relational databases and VPC configurations
  • Experience or knowledge of cloud networks (VPC & subnets)
  • A good understanding of the importance of Observability and Monitoring and the latest tooling
  • Demonstrable experience of building for security and failure

If you don 't fancy working at one of the big consultancies but do want to learn loads, develop yourself and work in an environment where the only way is to do cloud right - then w
